As I began my search for my first home back in March, my primary goal and takeaway was to find a place that would serve as a cozy space for me, my family, my friends, and my community.
I wanted this home to be a place where I could feel comfortable expressing myself while also allowing others to enjoy its warmth and glow.
After a few stressful weeks of house showings, driving back and forth between Durham, NC, and Raleigh, NC, and one declined home offer. When I first walked into my home during a showing on a random Tuesday night, I felt right at home.
Walking in, I could see and feel how much the previous owner had cherished the space, having been there for over 20 years. This made the home special to me, as I knew the owner loved it, and it excited me about how much I could continue the legacy of this home.

I knew it was home as I swung on the little backyard playground from the previous owners and found bunnies and squirrels running around the fallen autumn leaves.
At the same time, my partner and realter Kit were busy checking the grounds and foundation of the house.
It was at this moment that I knew this was the house for me, a house where, just by exploring the backyard, I felt like a kid again.
Welcome to my Cottage
